Stalked: Kirsten Goss, Jewellery Designer

23 March 2015

More than likely you have already heard of this not so 'emerging' talent before today. Kirsten Goss is an established jewellery designer with stores internationally in locations such as London and South Africa. Since launching in London in 2002, Kirsten Goss has poured her passion for unique design and unparalleled craftsmanship into every piece of jewellery she has created. I caught up with her (wearing a fab Temperley London number) for a coffee and chat about jewellery and her career.

What do you love about being a jewellery designer and how did you get into fashion?

I think the fact you can say so much with so little appeals to me. Mini works of art forming little punctuation marks takes an outfit and fashion to a new level. An earring can change a whole look - especially where in the ear its worn. I managed to get a job at erickson beamon years ago - my first job making a whole bunch of jewellery for Julien Macdonalds London fashion week show in 98/99 - first month in london in the front row with Anna Wintour with a Alek Wek et al strolling down the ramp - I was sold! It’s been non-stop since then.

 What influences your designs?

Scandinavian maternal side and African upbringing - juxtaposition of perfection, clean lines, perfect execution - and rambunctious colour, texture and form. so anything from furniture and architecture to ancient African tribal wares. confluence of extreme opposites.

If you could live in another city where would it be and why?

I live in a pretty cool city that covers most of my lusts. but new york is just on another level in terms of what goes, how much, and sans limits. its the fat boy’s lunchbox of possibility.

How would you describe your personal style?

Playful, classic, kitchsy, feminine

Where do you shop in London and where do you eat?

Mad for Dover Street Market, Liberty and rooting around in Shoreditch. Also the new etailer - & Other Stories and Mother of Pearl. For food I love Bob-Bob Ricard, Burger & Lobster, Hoi Polloi, Bobo social, Hoxton hotel, Hawksmoor, Gymkhana,  and The dairy.
