I stalked Cansu at London Fashion Week recently, she was looking fantastic in a simple shearling esk coat, denim shirt and leathers. No surprising she is the editor of L'Officiel Turkiye and the blogger behind Advocate's Closet (FYI, personal style to die for!!!)! I caught up with her on her job, style and what she loves about LFW!
What do you do and
what do you love about your job?
I am an editor at
L'Officiel Turkiye, blogger at Advocate's Closet and an ex-lawyer. I know it
sounds cliché but fashion has always been a great passion of mine. Before going
into fashion professionally, I was a corporate lawyer at one of the highest
ranked law firms in Istanbul and as I've always been a creative person,
practicing law was killing all my energy. After I made the bold move of going
from law to fashion professionally, working does not feel like an obligatory
pain that we have to suffer from every other day anymore, which is the best
side of my job:) Also, I should mention the people! In fashion, you are
surrounded by creative, like-minded people and every other interaction helps
you expend your vision and come up with new ideas.
How would you describe
your personal style?
My personal style is
changing and evolving day by day. But for the moment I would say it is
effortless and minimal with a touch of vintage.
What's your favourite
part of London Fashion Week?
That it is held in LONDON! :)) London is a great
city with such a cool vibe. Milan is too posh, Paris is too French, but London
is all about cool and hip which I like a lot
What has been the main
trends you've seen coming out of the AW15 shows so far?
It is a very obvious answer but 60s and 70s are
everywhere! Faux fur is on all the runways, either as a coat or just as a part
of a dress or jacket. Shiny boots were seen on many runways as well! Red and
green in many shades will have their year, as they are the colours we haven't
been seeing a lot in the previous seasons. Hmm, and the disco vibes, those
shiny, sparkly everything, especially dresses! In parallel with the 70s trend,
disco also seems to be a dominant trend for the upcoming season.
Five items you can't live without?
A pair of black jeans
or black leather pants (doesn't really matter which pair, as long as they are
black!), a good pair of leather booties, a leather jacket, a basic Tee
(preferably white, black or grey, or all :) ) and a pair of high quality, cool
sunglasses.
