Recently I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Pandora Sykes, journalist and style guru. Pandora has written for UK publications such as The Times, Spectator Life, Company, YOU, Metro and is now fashion editor of The Debrief.com (a must read website, if you don't already)! From today I will be stalking Miss Sykes to find out what this stylish lady wears on a daily basis, but firstly... The interview!
What do you do and why
do you love your job?
I am a fashion and features journalist and
blogger. I love writing and anything visual and media-orientated so it's a good
fit for me.
Sort of accidentally. I always thought I'd end up a
columnist or celebrity interviewer. I was incurably nosy, had an eye for
details and plenty of opinions. I ended up veering more towards fashion when I
was Features Assistant at InStyle magazine about 3 years ago and though I am
Fashion Editor at The Debrief, in my freelancing and on my blog, I very much
alternate between style and social commentary. Twin interests, if you
will.

When you're not at
Debrief, what do you do in your spare time?
Read (a lot), watch movies, take photos, eat,
hunt for online thrift, drink!
In the next 10 years
how do you think the fashion industry will change?
I think you will see an increasing diversity
- as opposed to elitism - offered through the changing digital scape. That said,
you hear a lot about print journalist being dead and I absolute do not believe
that. I may primarily work in digital - although I freelance for
print publications - but I buy pretty much every magazine under the
sun, every month. I don't see how the tangible can ever be totally replaced,
although there's no doubt that news will always continue to be broken online,
thenceforth.
Five items you can't
live without?
Ancient Topshop
ripped jeans, H&M trench coat, Balenciaga black heels, vintage kilt and
come summer, any one of my backless Reformation dresses.
Pandora, what are you wearing
today?
Topshop blouse, necklaces from Dogeared and Davina Combe, vintage 50s
Levi's, Reebok Classics and a Cornelia Webb hand bracelet.

ReplyDeleteIts basically all about trendy accessories and that is what women bother the most which is a good thing because fashion should be the one that is in trends.
