Stalked: Joanna, Founder Of Joubi Jewellery
11 November 2013
Having once studied jewellery design myself, there are only a handful of jewellery designers that really catch my eye. This little lady certainly did with her gorgeous cat ear rings and sparkly gems!
After having completed a degree in publishing, Joanna decided to indulge her passion for jewellery and jewellery design by embarking on a career in it and subsequently founded Joubi. She graduated from the Gemological Institute of America in London in 2009 and has since devoted her time to designing and realising her first collection. I caught up with her at her studio and talked all things fluffy fourlegged and sparkly!
When did start designing?
2010 but in December selling for one year
What inspires you?
I'm obsessed with nature and animals. I have three beautiful dogs that I adore, they all have such crazy different characters. I directly draw inspiration from my love of animals for the finer jewellery pieces I design and my diffusion line is more chunky and abstract.
Who are your favourite designers?
Has to be Steven Webster for jewellery. For fashion accessories, Charlotte Olympia, I also love individual Thai street designers. I'm also a big fan of Alexander wang, The Row and Matthew Williamson.
What's you favourite jewellery piece you have designed?
Because I don't wear a watch it would have to be the big link bracelet. (As below)
5 items you can't live without?
iPhone and blackberry, yes I have two!! My dogs - a Chiwawa and two Jack Russell's, my Wang Bag, my trusty Apple laptop and last but not least of course my Jewellery!
Unlike other jewellery brands, Joubi’s pieces are designed with the individual wearer in mind rather than a particular fashion style or look. Check out Joanna's stunning jewellery here.
