A Whole New Temperley World

4 April 2013

Three months ago Mayfair, was graced with the new arrival of one of the most sort after and elegant brands of the moment. A designer whose wedding dresses make most girls weak at the knees and running for the nearest man, evening wear so divine that it’s worth putting on a ball just to have the excuse to wear one, then there’s her diffusion line.. Don’t get me started!

Yes, of course I’m talking about Alice Temperley.

For a while I have been an avid follower of Alice Temperley and every part of her brand, from the designs, to her first ever store in Notting Hill. For those who don’t normally venture to Notting Hill, I’m excited to tell you Temperley has just found her second home, set on a fun but sophisticated Bruton Street in Mayfair. This oozes the personality of the designer, every corner, every rail, every piece of artwork was hand picked or commissioned by Alice herself.

As you enter the store it’s like walking into a grand Mayfair home. The lovely Temperley girls welcome you into this beautiful showroom housing the three collections; Temperley London, ALICE by Temperley and Temperley Bridal, which are set over two floors.

Alice has directed the interiors to work sympathetically with the Grade II listed building emphasising the important features such as the hand painted wooden ceiling on the first floor. Decadent details include the shop front ‘Temperley London’ logo etched in gold through black glass inspired by French pharmacy frontages from the 1920’s, unique art deco clothing rails inspired by vintage bird cages and bespoke furniture in rich plum fabrics throughout the store forming ‘conversation areas’, all in an elegant colour scheme influenced by the Regency Era.

Not only do her beautiful clothes fill the space inside this impressive building, so does the work of artists selected by Alice herself, most are friends of hers and have created pieces specially for the store, all these works are for sale. The dolls are made by an amazing Somerset based artist named Alice Mary Lynch, the mirror, which is pictured previously, are done by Candace Bahouth in which Alice did her first internship with Candace aged 14 resulting in her passion for textiles and the butterfly domes are commissioned by Alice through Les Couilles Du Chien on Golborne Road.

Currently the stunning SS13 collection is being shown, if you missed the runway show here’s a little recap -> here.

Girls girls try and contain the excitement..... it's THE..  Bridal room!

The dress pictured below is the most incredible one off piece, worth over £15,000!

Located with other cool designers such as Stella McCartney, Kenzo and Matthew Williamson, Bruton Street is well worth checking out now the world of Temperley has arrived. So many personal touches have been applied to the store by the designer herself, that when you leave you feel like you’ve met Alice personally, had tea, and checked out her art collections! I think you will agree that not many other stores could ever offer this experience.
