Tea For Two

11 October 2012

As some of you may know, if you follow me on twitter, that Wednesdays are office detox days!!!- Yes ridiculous I know and I'm sure only in a fashion company this silliness would occur, but there we all were sipping on our fruit smoothies and drinking soup all day, moaning how hungry we were!! Therefore, the previous day I thought I would treat myself to some naughtyness!!

A friend and I grabbed tea at the beautiful Criterion on Piccadilly circus, this place is steeped in history, the walls have seen many legendary politician, actors and actresses dine under it's gold mosaic ceiling.

Afternoon tea is a wonderfully English thing to do.. the idea of cucumber sandwiches and scones lathered in cream and jam, always reminds me of scenes from the 1920s and Brideshead Revisted.

Although this particular tea at the Criterion, isn't just a normal tea... head chef Matthew Foxon as pushed the boundaries of the 'traditional' English past time to create something special. Chorizo scones and Earl Grey tea smoked salmon sandwiches were just a couple of treats we couldn't get enough of!

Twinings have even created a special blend for the restaurants new take on afternoon tea! I loved this tea timer, basically the black sand is for black tea, the green is for green tea, and the white for herbal teas. So there is no excuse for a badly made cup of tea!

At the stage we couldn't eat anymore, then we discovered the tray of desserts - my favourite was the blackberry and tequila panna cotta! When I'm a lady who lunches, believe me, I will be in this place every day for their afternoon teas.. ok I may have to detox every other day but it would be well worth it!!
