The 'Marie Antoinette' era has always been a favourite of mine, from the lavish clothes to the cupcakes and champagne, this is certainly on my list of eras I would love to have lived, especially after Sofia Coppola’s film a few years ago staring Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette (a must see if you haven’t already). Therefore, when I was invited by our very own Kirsten Dunst to a Marie Antoinette Garden Party, I jumped at it like a cat on a mouse!
Kate, an extremely talented artist, always knows how to throw the most amazing parties, her attention to detail is always incredable. This I'm sure is because of her artistic nature, her artworks are truly stunning. Personal favourites of mine are her polo paintings, these she has done from a young age, and such paintings hang on the walls of some of the great polo players, such as Adolfo Cambiaso.
With much giggling we tucked into the 'make your own' homemade cupcakes and vodka Earl Grey tea fountain - very dangerous!!
I totally fell in love with these vodka lemon jelly shots and they are super easy to make.
All you need is:
12 whole lemons
1 cup pink lemonade
2 packages plain gelatin
1 cup vodka
Cut the lemons in half. Scoop out the insides. Add the lemonade to a saucepan, sprinkle the gelatin over the juice. Let it sit for 2 minutes. Heat the lemonade over low heat, stirring, until the gelatin has dissolved, about 5 minutes. Stir in the vodka. Pour into the lemon halves. Refrigerate until set, about 4 hours. Cut the lemons into half and serve.
In love with Kate's new wheels!!!
A spot of croquet polo?!!
This certainly was a party to remember, we feasted on all things naughty and sipped violet champagne to our hearts content, followed by perhaps one too many skittle infused vodka shots! Kate also did the most amazing G&T jelly shots, I was lucky enough to steal the secret recipe when she wasn't looking ;) !!
As this was a kind of modern day Marie Antoinette, I dug out my Vivienne Westwood inspired dress from All Saints, piled my hair up high and stuck a feather in it - easy peasey fancy - always the best!!
Would love to have a party themed like this, how fun:)
