29 February 2012

I have to admit, I am a complete T-shirt addict, anything which is vaguely eye catching, I jump on it like a tiger! This one I spotted on a website that I am utterly obsessed with at the moment called WIWT.com - 'What I Wore Today', perfect for the likes of me who are constantly taking pictures of different outfits I wear, yes I admit... this website brings out the 'mildly' vain side of me but in all seriousness it's a great way to record looks.
I Whore Tees is a relatively new company but their branding is spot on, even the packaging is awesome; I excitedly opened the bright metallic pink jiffy bag, to find the tee wrapped in tissue paper with IWhoretees sickers sealing it. I've already set my heart on the next t-shirt but of course it's sold out.. Soo intend to check the website every day until it comes in again!!

For this outfit I wore, leather jacket from All Saints, Tee; IWhoreTees, Jeans; J Brand, studded boots by Russell and Bromley, and my hat crush this week is my vintage Von Dutch leather and mesh baseball cap!

Backstage Beauty

28 February 2012

At 15.00 on the 20th February 2012 the talented make-up artists were hard at work applying the finishing touching to the models before they would launch down the runway for the Burberry Prorsum AW12 show. All the models were of course wearing Burberry Beauty, the new make-up line that the brand launched last year.

As my regular followers may have noticed  I never blog about make-up, mainly because beauty products and I have never had a wonderful relationship!- But in this case I have to make an exception. The brand has developed an unbelievably nice make-up range, admittedly most of my make-up case is made up of Burberry Beauty and for a reason!  For instance I am head over heels in love with their foundation, it gives the most amazing matt finish and doesn't sit on the skin like a lot do. Their eye concealer/highlighter is also fantastic for the dark circles, which I seem to spend my entire life trying to cover up -one day I will start going to bed early!!

I am fan of the super simple, natural looking make-up, which Burberry have seem to perfected extremely well, colour palates are designed to match the subtly tones of the seasons collections, e.g. an eye shadow or foundation appropriately called 'Trench' colour.  If you haven't yet tried it pop into Harrods and see what you think!

LFW: Burberry Prorsum Show

27 February 2012

Burberry showed their AW12 collection under the glass roof of the Kensington Gardens conservatory, specially erected for Christopher Bailey’s new collection. One of the most talked about shows in the London Fashion Week calendar, the Burberry Prorsum show brought in guests such as Anna Wintour, the gorgeous Eddie Redmayne, Burberry girl Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Will I Am, in a striking pair of yellow framed glasses and many more.

This seasons the collection was themed 'Town and Field', a tricky combination but you know what they say, opposites always find a way to attract! Outerwear was spot on as usual with bellow pockets, hourglass sartorial top coats, oversize waxed field jackets and cinched riding jackets, all shouted out the theme ‘Field’, whereas, sculptural dress shirts nipped into sharp tiered peplum skirts, shoulder bow dresses, and tiered fringed dresses, suggested ‘Town’ perfectly. Playful 'field' animals such as swallows, owls and doggies embroidered onto cashmere jumpers and over-sized t-shirts gave the collection a sense of ease. Similar to the menswear show the accessories were divine, with leather studded gloves and bags adorned with the playful animal heads, I already know which one I'm getting!! The Burberry Field Boot (a suede lace-up ankle boot, or brogue lace-up ankle boot)  I can also see being next seasons must have.

In my opinion Bailey has married these two opposites beautifully, to present a truly divine collection.

As the final model exited the runway the music was cut and silence fell over the audience, then seconds later a huge clap of thunder sounded and rain started pouring down over the outside of the glass roof (all courtesy of Burberry of course!) the models reappeared for the final walk holding college stripped umbrellas with fake rain falling down the runway.

No surprises another excellent show for this extremely exciting brand.

LFW: Temperley London Show

25 February 2012

After the Anna Dello Russo talk at Shoreditch House and a quick cucumber and grey goose martini, I shot off to the Alice Temperley show at One George St Westminster, an absolutely stunning location for her show and very in-keeping with her previous shows.

Alice Temperley has to be one of my favourite designers (after Burberry of course!) her AW12 collection is to die for and in my opinion one of LFW best shows. Set in the stunning great hall of One George Street, a recent historical landmark built in 1910, this setting suited the theme of her collection perfectly with the feeling of beautifully polished folklore mixed with a dash of Cossack warriors. Long and lean dresses were embroidered with bright flowers onto tulle, worn with gorgeous huge fur hats. The Cossack Warrior raised it's head with double breasted military jackets one in navy silk with gold buttons. One of my favourite looks was a stunning long silk black dress, full length side slits showed the luxurious caramel silk lined inside, this flowed majestically down the runway and a black fur hat and full length silk gloves perfected the look. Honestly I could not fault this collection, Alice Temperley has certainly brought decadence to a whole new level.

After the show some much needed LFW Style Stalking was done.. From pheasant hats, hair coats, and pastel patents, I was in my element wearing my studded leather jacket, which also seemed to get fellow style stalkers in a frenzy!

An excellent show now onto Burberry...!

LFW: What Would ADR Wear?

23 February 2012

Madonna, Naomi Campbell, Elvis Presley.. All names that you can say anywhere in the world and people would know who you were talking about!  Well within the fashion world there is one person that honestly if you didn't know who she was I'd suggest swatting up!- Oh yes it's Anna Dello Russo!

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of being in her company for a glorious 2 hours, during a talk she was giving at Shoreditch House with an intimate audience of 50.  Anna also known as ADR, previously editor for Italian Vogue and now editor in chief of Japan Vogue, she is a style icon like no other. Her relationship with fashion bloggers is amazing, as her outfits send us all into a flurry of excitement as she stops or even poses in the streets going to and from to shows, for street style photographers. Unlike other members of the fashion media who refuse to accept this new form of media, Anna calls bloggers the 'fashion democracy', as online becomes more prominent with blogger and tweeters giving up to the minute fashion reporting unlike monthly print media.  She has an inspiring positive view on fashion devoting her life to the magazine, her personal style and her blog.. As well as having a family!!

With over 8000 pairs of shoes, Anna Dello Russo in her own words "has no limits with fashion", she will often wear the entire look off the runway; why change perfection! For the menswear shows... Yes of course she wears suits, or highly tailored masculine pieces! Also this style icon takes a mere 45 minutes to get ready in the morning!

I adore her outlook on fashion; "express yourself through fashion, break the rules and don't be lazy!" her words I found an inspiration and even this morning I woke up thinking, yes I could wear something easy, black and boring.. But that would be totally the opposite of my character.

So when your next thinking what to wear, ask yourself 'What Would Anna Wear'?!!

Tomorrow's Hottest Designers

20 February 2012

There's something that fascinates me about Emerging Talent, maybe it 's the uncensored creativeness that comes from young designers, or the thought that this designer could be the next Christopher Bailey!

Last week I attended the BFashion Emerging Talent Show, held in a well known members club in London's West End. Designers were competing against each other to win an internship working along side the legendary Johnathan Saunders. Last season’s award was given to Ross Whittred and following the internship at Vivienne Westwood; he has now gone onto a full time position at Victoria Beckham.

Designers showing were, Paris Hawkins, Katy Jarvis, Laura Jane Bailey, Lyudmila Lane, Rachel Stott, Toni Stott, Annie Ovcharenko, Meg Cornwell, Katie Williams, and Yasmin Kheradmanden. The show began with Paris Hawkins, in my opinion a modern couturist, who merges taxidermy with apparel, this is the type of designer I love - they push the boundaries of fashion and I'm sure soon will have the types of Lady Gaga rushing for the next collection. Another designers work I fell in love with was Lyudmila Lane's, her collection emphasizes on delicate textures and movement. Her lines and shapes were exquisite, sophisticated yet youthful - a designer well worth watching.

B Fashion presented an excellent show and was the perfect way to wet my fashion appetite for the week ahead.

Stylishly Snuggly

17 February 2012

Don’t you just love it when you find amazing items in the most unexpected places.. I found this gorgeous cashmere and angora wool dress while being dragged into one of mothers favourite shops. In these types of places as soon as I enter my fashion blinkers go on and I turn into my mother’s ‘stylist’ only… but then I noticed this, sitting on the racks of Laura Ashley I fell head over heels in love with it!
Paired with a grungy leather jacket from All Saints and my studded biker boots from Russell & Bromley this has turned into one of my favourite outfits at the moment, perfect for today’s coffee at Blakes with a close friend.
